27 posts in this topic

If you’ve jailbroken your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch using Electra jailbreak tool for iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2, but haven’t installed a jailbreak tweak because you are finding it too complicated then we have you covered.

Here’s a foolproof step-by-step guide on how to install jailbreak tweaks on iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2 running on your iPhone and iPad.

Requirements

You need to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch using Electra Jailbreak tool for iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2. This won’t work if you’ve jailbroken using LiberiOS jailbreak as Electra Jailbreak includes Substitute, a Cydia alternative, which allows you to install jailbreak apps and tweaks. If you need help check our step-by-step tutorial on how to jailbreak iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2 using Electra jailbreak.

Download FilzaEscaped IPA from this link.

You probably have Cydia Impactor on your computer. If not download and install it using this link. Cydia Impactor is available for macOS, Windows, Linux (32-bit and 64-bit).

Download ZipApp Free app from the App Store using this link. You can use any other app but for the sake of this guide, we’re using this app.

Step 1: Sideload FilzaEscaped IPA using Cydia Impactor

Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to the computer with the Lightning cable to sideload the FilzaEscaped IPA file.

Launch Cydia Impactor on your computer. It will detect your iOS device. Drag the FilzaEscaped IPA file you had downloaded earlier on to its UI. Enter the Apple ID and password for your Apple Developer account when prompted, and wait for Cydia Impactor to sideload the signed app on your iOS device.

After it is done, you can verify if FilzaEscaped has been installed on your iOS device.

If you hit provision.cpp:168′ error while trying to sideload Electra IPA, then check our post on how to fix the issue.

Step 2: Download Jailbreak Tweak

Check our post to find out if your favorite jailbreak tweak is compatible with iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2 and Electra jailbreak.

Go to CydiaUpdates.com on your iOS device and search for your favorite theme.

Tap on the link for the deb file under Version History.

Tap Open the deb file in “ZipApp Free”.

Tap on the Yes button, when ZipApp Free app prompts you if you would like to decompress the file into the current directory.

Step 3: Install Jailbreak Tweak

While you are in ZipApp Free app, tap on the extracted .deb contents.

Tap on the file named “data.lzma”. Tap on the Yes button, when you’re prompted to decompress the file.

This should create a new data folder.

Launch FilzaEscaped, then tap on Apps Manager, scroll down and tap on ZipApp Free.

Then navigate to /ZipApp Free/Documents/Imported Files/<TweakName>/data/Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries folder and tap and hold on dylib, and then tap Copy.

Now navigate back to /bootstrap/Library/SBInject, and paste dylib you had copied earlier in this folder.

Follow the same procedure for the plist file. That’s it in most cases the jailbreak tweak should work.

In case of some jailbreak tweaks, it may not be that simple. You need to copy other contents as well.

In such cases, you can follow the steps mentioned below. In this example, we will use Cylinder, the jailbreak tweak that animates the app icons when you swipe between Home screens.

Navigate to /ZipApp Free/Documents/ImportedFiles/TweakName/data/Library in FilzaEscaped.

Open the folder “PreferenceBundles”. Tap and hold, and copy the .bundle folder.

Navigate to /bootstrap/Library/PreferenceBundles, and paste the .bundle folder in the “PreferenceBundles” folder.

Navigate back to /ZipApp Free/Documents/ImportedFiles/TweakName/data/Library and go to the “PreferenceLoader/Preferences” folder in your extracted .deb.

Tap and hold, and copy the “.plist” file.

Navigate to /bootstrap/Library/PreferenceLoader/Preferences, and copy the plist file.

Navigate back to /ZipApp Free/Documents/ImportedFiles/TweakName/data/Library. Tap and hold, and copy the “Cylinder” folder.

Paste this entire folder in /Library, NOT /bootstrap/Library.

Step 3: Reboot and Re-Jailbreak

You can reboot your iOS device, and re-jailbreak it using Electra Jailbreak. That’s it your favorite jailbreak tweak should be working. Note: You can also respring your iOS device at this stage, but we’ve seen that it doesn’t work always, so it is better to just reboot and re-jailbreak.

Let us know how it goes. Hope you found this step-by-step tutorial to install jailbreak tweaks in iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2 easier to follow
